Lumarachi is a Bantu dialect of the Luhya macrolanguage spoken by the Abamarachi people of western Kenya. The Abamarachi are one of the subtribes of the Luhya nation and occupy Butula District in Busia County . Their land is known as Bumarachi or Ebumarachi, and is divided into East, West, Central, and North Marachi locations, with significant towns at Butula and Bumala.

Lumarachi is part of the broader cluster of seventeen Luhya dialects spoken in western Kenya. The dialect is of particular linguistic interest due to the geographical location of most of its speakers, who are at the border of Dholuo speakers in western Kenya , making it a valuable subject for studying cross-linguistic contact between Bantu and Nilotic language communities.

This collection brings together linguistic materials documenting Lumarachi, including audio recordings, transcribed texts, and grammatical data, contributing to the preservation and study of this dialect within the Kenya Language Corpus Initiative.
